Power Outage Overnight
Hickory- A major power outage affected three counties overnight. At around
midnight last night, a snake came into contact with some of Duke Energy's
equipment, resulting in 8,000 people losing power. The outage covered around a
five county radius, including Burke, Catawba, and Caldwell Counties. It took crews
around an hour to get the power back on.
