Granite Falls- A Granite Falls teacher is in trouble with police after being charged with DWI and hit and run with property damage.

Susan Mackie, 55, was reportedly turning onto an Interstate 40 on-ramp in Hickory when she struck another vehicle. The wreck reportedly occurred at around 1:00 a.m.

According to police, Mackie drove away from the scene. A witness allegedly followed Mackie until police arrived.

Mackie teaches in the Exceptional Children's Program at Granite Falls Elementary School.
