Morganton- Susan Stroup was sworn in Tuesday to the Burke County Board of Education.

Stroup defeated Board Chair Tracey Norman overwhelmingly for the seat in the general election.

County Commissioner Chair Ruth Ann Suttle swore Stroupe in.

Stroup will take over the seat vacated by John Aulgar. Aulgar was appointed to that seat by the school board earlier this year after a board member resigned.

Stroup would have to run again in 2011 if she wants to stay on the board because there is two years left on the term for this seat.
