Icard- East Burke High School head football coach Mike Biggerstaff has announced that he will retire.

The Hickory Daily Record is reporting that Biggerstaff made the announcement Thursday.

Biggerstaff spent eight seasons at East Burke as head coach. He was a head coach for 19 years total, two seasons at RS Central and nine seasons at West Caldwell.

Biggerstaff retires with an overall record of 144-71-1.

Biggerstaff said that he will continue to teach no later than February 1, 2010.
