Conover- An 9-year-old autistic boy was reportedly left on a school bus all day.

Newton-Conover Public Schools report that the child fell asleep on the bus while going to school and the driver did not properly check the bus when it arrived at the school.

The boy was left on the bus for eight hours Monday.

School officials thought that the boy was sick and at home. They did not realize that the boy was on the bus until his mother came to the school later that afternoon. The boy was not injured in the incident.

The bus driver is suspended during the district's investigation.
